Wanted: The best Green Bean Casserole Recipe

Giving Thanks

Thank you for all the kind words on my post yesterday. Dana came through his surgery, and his knee should be healed soon. He did get pretty sick from the anesthesia, but at least next time they can prevent it. He will be down for a few days, and then will be able start using his knee more. I'll be using my lunch breaks to fix his lunch, and will be picking up Kaia from child care each day, as he cannot drive until cleared by the doctor. We are going to be busy, but I'm so glad his pain will be alleviated.

This year for Thanksgiving my mom and I talked about having a Green Bean Casserole. I'm going to bring them. Only one problem: I've had them, and loved them, but I don't have a recipe. I know I can look online, but I want to make sure I use a good recipe. So please, if you have the best Green Bean Casserole, will you please share the recipe in my comments?

I will also be making deviled eggs (as I do for every family gathering) and I'm planning to make a Pear and Almond Cream Tart that I found in my November Everyday Food.

I'll be by to visit you all very soon! I cannot wait to see your menus, decorating ideas, and holiday plans.

I dump canned green beans canned cream of mushroom soup, a little milk, and fried onions all into a big casserole and bake it. Not too fancy.

I am glad that the surgery went well and I will pray for complete healing. The recipe that I use for green bean casserole can be found on the can of fried onions. I forget the brand name, but you could look on the cans in the store to find it. It is very simple and always delicious! Have a blessed day!

My receipe is the same. Through in a couple cans of greenbeans, a can of cream of mushroom soup, and mix together. I bake mine in the oven at 350 for 20 minutes (or until hot), then I put enough fried onions to cover the top and put back in oven for another 5 minutes. If you don't have any fried onions, you can crumble up crackers to cover the top of the dish. Works and tastes just as good.

Oooo...I LOVE green bean casserole! Here's how I make it:
1. slice/chop a small onion
2. saute it in butter in large skillet
3. add mushrooms if you like them
4. after onion are tender, add in shredded cheese
5. dump in 2 cans green beans (any style you like)
6. season with salt & pepper
7. pour into casserole dish
8. top with French fried onions
9. bake @ 350F for 30 minutes
10. ENJOY!

I personally think traditional green bean casserole sounds gross; I like them plain. But I really want to try this recipe.

My recipe is similar to the others but I use cheddar cheese soup instead of cream of mushroom. It makes yummier!

I just recently saw a new green bean casserole recipe I wanted to try, but I think I forgot to cut the recipe out of the paper (coupon section) It was about the same except you used Golden Mushroom Soup instead of the regular, and you add shredded cheddar cheese on top instead of the dried onions. I think I'll try to find the recipe on line.

Glad to hear that Dana's surgery went well. That anesthesia sure causes problems sometimes.

My family likes a Martha Stewart recipe for green bean casserole. You can find it on her website at this link: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/green-bean-casserole?autonomy_kw=green%20bean%20casserole&rsc=rf_result2

The only thing I changed was that I didn't add cayenne pepper or nutmeg.

Blessings,
Wanita

Glad all went well...As for green bean casserole...I never make it, but my sweet girl Katie always does and brings it with her...everyone always asks if she is making it, so...she must be doing something right!

Blessings,

Asking for recipes from me is just as effective as asking for cleaning tips.

I am not the chick to help you with your quest.

I'm glad to hear Dana's surgery went well and he is recovering. I'm not a fan of the tradition green bean casserole, so I'll have to come back and see if someone shares a good one! LOL
