Sincerely 'Fro Me to You- Pregnant

I'm fast running out of bad photos from my youth! I must go and raid my parents' cedar chest! I know there are horrible ones with the big ugly glasses. Or the purple striped shirt with the long red polyester skirt. Even better the frizzy permed hair. Oh yeah, there are so many hiding in that chest. But today, I will show you me. Me 9 months pregnant with Mo. Me 39 weeks and 3 days pregnant. It was Easter Sunday 2006, and I was miserable!

Sure I'm smiling, but I wanted to die! I'd had contractions all day that Thursday. Went to the hospital only to be sent home. I was waking up with killer contractions in the wee hours of the morning, only to have them disappear. None of my maternity clothes fit well anymore, and I was struggling to find shirts long enough to cover the panel in my pants (the panel-less ones no longer fit), but the only ones that did that were so big around the shoulders that they let my pregnancy induced assets hang out.

Yep that was quite the Easter! Just looking at this photo reminds me of how much my feet hurt, my pelvis ached, and how little energy I had that day. Kaia had a good time, and I'm sure this photo is embarrassing for the horse.

Kaia was only 2 at the time and she still remembers this ride and this Easter. It was a big party at a family friend's house. What amazes me is that she was still awake. If I remember right we were at sunrise service at church (7 a.m.) and this photo was in the afternoon. I think we probably both needed a good nap after that!

Luckily, it was only 4 days later that I was sent to the hospital for induction. My blood pressure sky-rocketed and it was my due date, Thursday, April 20th. At 12:10 a.m. on Friday the 21st Mo finally came. He was a little blue (he kept turning sunny side up, despite my midwife's numerous attempts to turn him), but he was beautiful.

You were a cute pregnant chick. I remember that type of misery though. The last pregnancy was the most uncomfortable thing! But I looked, ahem, significantly MORE pregnant than you do in that photo. That looks like me at, say, 6 months. MOOOOOOOO! Not saying YOU look like a MOOOOOOO, I meant I was a MOOOOOOOOO.

At least it wasn't a pregnancy in the middle of the HOT South. My first baby was in May but my second was in the first week of July. I thought I wasn't going to make it in the heat!

Very cute photos. Poor horse.

You were cute! I remember that time, when nothing fit me anymore. I only had two shirts that fit me and I got so sick of them!

I left a little something for you on my blog.

Wow, you were a small pregnant lady! My belly looked like that at about 6 months!

I agree, you looked cute as a pregnant mom. I'm pretty sure I got bigger with my last pregnancy than that!

....and THAT is why I like you so much!

If I ever grow a crop of gourds, you are getting first pick!

Wow. I remember so little about being that pregnant, and it wasn't that long ago. I was just so hyper-relieved that I was not going to have a preemie that I don't think things bothered me by that point. I do remember getting on all fours, arching my back so that my belly was to the ground, and sticking my butt in the air. Being in that position REALLY helped the "Baby's head is right freakin there" syndrome. I am jealous that you remember so much, even though it wasn't good.

I think you looked great, TJ! I do remember those miserable "last few weeks of pregnancy" feelings though! Emily arrived in June and it was so hot!
