Sincerely 'Fro Me to You The 90's

The year was 1990. I was 12 years old and had the height of fashion in my closet after back to school shopping. MC Hammer triangle pants and an equally odd shaped, shoulder padded matching shirts in such lovely colors like mustard yellow and a harish green. Yeah it was a great year for fashion.

But, I was in love with Motley Crue, Poison, Warrant, and Bon Jovi. My friend and I wanted to be rocker chicks. Not the sexy, high-heeled, skimpy shirt wearing rocker chicks because quite frankly neither one of us could have pulled that off. No, we wanted to look like skid row rocker chicks. On school photo day, which if memory serves me right, I forgot all about having photos. I went to school rockin in my friend's white, oversized t-shirt with holes and a pair of skin tight stretch denim jeans that zipped up the back and at the ankles.

The frizzy hair, high bangs, and metal mouth really completed the look.

For more photos you won't find in the scrapbook, head on over to We Are THAT Family.

Aw, you are adorable! I love the look of innocent expectation on your face. First I was drawn to the tentative smile. So cute. But since you mention it ---the hair does look funky :-)

You and I are the same age... I was 12 in 90, too. And, I hated Hammer Pants. When I was in 7th grade, it was cavaricci's and an IOU. I hated those, but wore them because I "had to".

I remember those Hammer pants and jacket. It will take decades to erase those images from my mind.

(Oh, and my husband was born in Moses Lake.)

Yeah, you lost me too at being 12 in 1990. I was pretty much finishing up high school. I'm feeling very old today!

Love the picture. I have a similar one, but you probably weren't even born yet!

Haha! I got just as much ribbing on my 30th birthday! :) I will say in my defense that Dana was already out of high school by Fall of 1990, and he's only 6 years older than me.

Aw you were a 12 yr old cutie! Like the others, it did set me back a bit to realize you were 12 in 1990. I had been out of high school for 2 years by then. Ack! ;)

You look cute! Imagine how bad it would be if you went the MC Hammer route...

OK, take Art's comment and echo that for me. Seriously? So you are... doing math.... my head hurts.... 30? ACK! I feel a bit old too. I got married in 91.

In three years I will officially be married half of my life.

I really need something for a head ache now.
