What to fix for Mother's Day

We are having lunch at my house right after church. I'm not sure how many will be in attendance, but we don't have a bunch of time. Church is over about 11:45 a.m. and then my family has a birthday party at 3 p.m.

My brother suggested Chili Dogs. Umm... sorry, but I don't think us mom's are really looking forward to chili dogs for our day. On top of that we don't want our husbands and children eating chili dogs.

So I'm trying to think of something that can be prepared in advance, and then quickly made as everyone arrives. I do plan to solicit help, but need some ideas. So please, share!

One of my favorites is Roasted Sausage and Vegetable Pasta. You can make the hard part ahead of time and then you only need to cook the pasta. And the recipe makes enough to feed us for about five meals!

Eww...I agree about the chili dogs! I would probably make something with pasta...my weakness. :0) It's always easy to make something like lasagne or baked ziti ahead of time and just reheat!

You could always do a make-your-own sandwich bar, plus a batch of soup on the stove.

Or, you could make quiches ahead of time and serve them at room temperature.

Or, you could do a baked brunch-y kind of thing. One of my favorites is Creme Brulee French Toast -- here's the link:

I might even make this myself for mother's day!

Hmmm, agreed on the chili dogs but you know that cooking is not my strong suit.

I am a huge fan of crock pots to have something for when you get home. How bout a roast with gravy and mushrooms and potatos boiled and waiting on the stove? Homemade mashed potatos, roast, brown and serve rolls, a quickie canned vegetable and tossed salad.

I am SO hungry now.
