Meet Danger

Lately Kaia has been lamenting the loss of Snowball. It was just by chance that last week Dana happened to search for hedgehog breeders in our area. And it was by chance that one breeder in Eastern Washington had a 9 month old male up for immediate adoption. I don't believe it was by chance at all. He was completely meant to be with our family. He had been up on the website less than 24 hours when we said we'd take him. It turns out she bought him for an East Coast breeder to add to her breeding stock. He has an excellent pedigree, excellent colors, and great temperament. What she didn't count on... he's gay.

Ok, that's my theory. The truth is he's been with her females, and while he doesn't mind snuggling up to them at night, no babies came of it. She lent him to a friend, who put him with her females, and again no babies. He's either not interested or sterile. But she did laugh when I told her that I thought he was gay.

We met up with her in Ritzville on Sunday. If you've never driven across Eastern Washington, I can tell you this: We drove 2 hours through flat land full of sagebrush and empty farm fields. It's a better drive in the summer, because at least you can look at the crops. We met her at the Zips, which is a great little burger joint found in E WA and Idaho, and a good burger and fries coupled with the most adorable hedgehog made the trip 100% worth it.

He's got deluxe accommodations now, and is settling in. He's a beautiful boy, and I can't wait for him to get used to us (mostly the loud kids) and play.

Oooooh, I want to love him and squeeze him. He's the cutest! I know he'll be happy in your home. If he dances to Judy Garland songs, well, he's definitely batting for the other team. LOL

Is his name Danger? Word of wisdom, no matter how much he likes them DO NOT FEED HIM PUFFY CHEETOS!!

Don't ask, it wasn't pretty:)
Congrats on your new family member.

LOL! But here's the real question: was it in the hedgehog's nature to be gay or did he choose to become gay? Hmmmm...

Oops I guess I never did use his name again, but yes, his name is Danger. He also goes by "chubs."

Don't worry Carla, we don't keep puffy cheetos in the house. He'll be eating his cat food, fresh fruit, and cooked chicken.

Jamie, they are fairly easy to care for, as long as they are socialized first. They can be litter box trained. They use a water bottle, and are some pretty easy going pets. I think that's why we like hedgehogs so much.

Great question Art... I won't debate it, since he can't talk to me. And I haven't seen him dancing to Judy Garland yet, but thanks for the laugh at the idea Casii!

Are these the creatures that curl into a perfect ball when they sleep?

Yes, we are moving next door. It's because of the mold problem we'd been having. The neighbors moved out because of it. (They were all getting sick). When their apartment became vacant, they did the mold extraction, and now they want to move us into there. Then, when our apt becomes vacant, they will do ours, and also many other problems our place has. Then, someone else will move in here.
